Looking Ahead: Member Benefits, Conference Takeaways and 2026-27 Goals

Members and Guests,

ASBPE leadership hosted our Annual Members’ Forum during ASBPEvolve 2026, our annual virtual conference held June 16-18. We celebrated a year of growth, reviewed our expanding programming, and shared our goals for 2026-27.

If you missed the live event, members can catch the full discussion in our archive recording. Individual and full package session recordings are now available for purchase. Non-members can also explore member benefits in our free session, “Diving into ASBPE’s Memberships & Benefits.”

Reflecting on the association’s growth, Immediate Past President Davide Savenije noted, “ASBPE’s role is to connect people and build a community, provide recognition for B2B excellence, and offer educational opportunities and thought leadership on important topics.”

A Look Back

ASBPE President Brooke Bilyj highlighted updates to our memberships — including 20% savings through corporate memberships and the value of our ASBPE Cohorts — along with volunteer paths to earn free membership.

Vice President Jonathan Maze shared that between June 2025 and June 2026, ASBPE hosted 31 events, spanning webinars, workshops, networking discussions and awards ceremonies. Unsurprisingly, our most popular training focused on SEO and journalism in the age of AI.

On the Horizon

As we build on the momentum of the past year, our focus remains on enhancing your experience and providing new value. Here’s a preview of what is coming.

  • Team Savings: We’ll make group access more affordable for even smaller B2B teams with a new corporate membership tier: The Foundation Group Membership will provide five seats at $400 annually (so small teams receive one membership free).
  • Streamlined Applications & Profiles: A simpler membership application and updated profile fields will reduce friction, provide clearer demographics for better service, improve database searches, and ensure event notifications match your actual geographic location through a single preferred address.
  • Mentorship Program: We are laying the groundwork for our formal mentorship initiative, featuring both topic-based guidance and long-term, goal-oriented pairings. Want to help? Support the program by donating to the ASBPE Educational Foundation or volunteering with our Career Advancement Committee.
  • Upcoming Programming: Driven by conference feedback, our Fall to Spring event calendar will feature the content you need to upskill and build your career.
    • Members, opt in for programming emails.
    • Non-Members, if you’d like to receive communications and programming updates from ASBPE, but are not ready to become an ASBPE member, please sign up here. Our non-member sign-up form allows you to share basic contact details and select the types of emails you’d like to receive.

Want to give back to the B2B media community, shape our programming, and earn free membership renewals? Reach out to Executive Director Jessi McCarthy-Hills. Donating just 12 hours of your time annually (one hour per month) earns you free membership.

Supporting Students, Graduates and Out-of-Work Professionals

ASBPE remains deeply committed to supporting the next generation of B2B journalists and professionals navigating career transitions:

  • Student Memberships: Undergrad and graduate journalism students are eligible for up to four years of free membership with proof of enrollment and anticipated graduation date. Apply for student membership.
  • Recent Graduates: To ease the transition into the workforce, fourth-year student members can renew directly into our “Early Professional Membership” and receive a discounted rate for their first year on staff.
  • Laid-Off B2B Professionals: Staff professionals impacted by layoffs at a B2B media outlet are eligible for six months of free membership (new members or extensions). Additionally we’ve opened free access to all ASBPEvolve 2026 session recordings for laid-off professionals, a fresh and phenomenal resource for skill improvement. Reach out to our executive director for requirements and next steps.

Master Your Worth: Compensation & Negotiation

Among conference highlights, the session “Your Worth, Your Words: Navigating Compensation and Negotiating Pay” tackled real-world strategies for salary discussions. Led by American University School of Communication Career Advisor and American University Adjunct Associate Professor and ASBPE National Director Paul Albergo, the session recording is now available free to members in our webinar archive. Catch quick tips on compensation and negotiation in this post.
