The ASBPE Educational Foundation awarded its 2023 Business Journalism Scholarship to Morgan Manella, an incoming graduate student at the school. The Foundation established the scholarship in 2019 for students at Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism, Media, Integrated Marketing Communications.
“I want to give a special thank you to the esteemed Medill faculty and the prestigious ASBPE Educational Foundation for their support of my graduate studies and professional goals,” she says.
After graduating from Emory University in 2016 with a bachelor’s degree in journalism and media studies, Manella worked for The Wall Street Journal as a platform editor for their mobile app and desktop homepage. She says she’s extremely honored to be a scholarship recipient.
“After working as an editor at The Wall Street Journal for five years, I am excited to expand my knowledge at Northwestern and propel my career forward in the ever-evolving media landscape,” Manella says. “At Medill, I will bring the critical thinking and analytical skills I have learned at WSJ to the classroom and share my professional experiences in an academic setting.”
Manella is enrolled in the Media Innovation and Content Strategy specialization and will spend three months at Northwestern’s San Francisco campus as part of the one-year graduate program.
“It will offer me hands-on training in a path I am eager to pursue—the intersection of journalism, business and technology,” she says. “The opportunities to intern in San Francisco and help companies solve tangible problems will provide me with unique exposure and help me succeed in my pursuit of being a digital innovator.”
