Hotel News Now, a digital business-to-business publication, seeks a news editor to manage the reporting team for this Rocky River, Ohio-based hotel industry online news site. The news editor will be an active content contributor to the fast-paced, daily news reporting environment, contributing several bylines per week. In addition to 7-10 years of editorial experience, the news editor should have 2-4 years of management experience. He or she will manage a team of three reporters and a stable of freelance reporters, as well as provide news judgment and direction for the entire editorial team. Other responsibilities include: editing copy, strict deadline enforcement, some travel to industry events, leading story idea generation and other tasks. The ideal candidate has a nose for breaking news and a commitment to contributing to the overall team environment. B2B experience is a plus. Experience covering the hotel/travel industry not required but preferred. The news editor will report directly to the Editor in Chief.

Required qualifications:

• College degree
• 7-10 years’ experience in journalism, communications or a related field.
• 2+ years of staff management experience.

Preferred qualifications:

• College degree from a four-year journalism or communication program
• Some experience in a daily news environment, ie., a daily newspaper
• Online and video editing experience.
