If you are 30 years old or younger and have spent at least two years in B2B media, don’t miss your opportunity to apply for the 2021 ASBPE Young Leader Scholarship (YLS) program sponsored by the ASBPE Foundation.
ASBPE started the Young Leader Scholarship program to give younger editors, who would otherwise be unable to attend, the chance to travel to and participate in the national conference. Recipients of the 2021 ASBPE Young Leader Scholarship will receive free registration to the ASBPE’s Charting B2B’s Path Forward, a month-long online event in May 2021, plus free registration for the May 2022 national conference, ASBPE’s anticipated return to an annual in-person event in Cleveland, Ohio.
“The ASBPE editorial conference is a great opportunity to learn from the best and the brightest,” says Jeffrey Lee, a past YLS recipient. “The best part of the Young Leader Scholarship is the opportunity to meet and interact with up-and-coming editors, to share ideas, experiences and perspectives. The scholarship also provides a unique opportunity to get high-level leadership and editorial training.”
To apply, entrants will need to complete the application form and upload links to examples of their recent work, current resume and headshot. They will also need to write two short essays: one on how they became involved in the business press and another on challenges faced by business publication editors.
New for 2021, freelance writers, editors and designers are welcome to apply for the scholarship.
Applications are due by the extended deadline of Feb. 19, 2021. If applicants have any questions about the scholarship, they can reach out to Amy Fischbach, president of the ASBPE Foundation, through our contact form.
Fischbach, a former YLS recipient, is a past president of ASBPE and helped a team to create a chapter in Kansas City, where she served as vice president and president. For the past several years, she has worked with the YLS selection committee to select the scholarship winners.
“It has been very rewarding to honor rising stars in B2B media through the ASBPE Young Leader Scholarship program,” says Fischbach, who serves as the Field Editor of Transmission & Distribution World magazine, an Endeavor Business Media publication. “By attending the ASBPE national conference, the YLS recipients can make valuable industry connections and learn new skills to succeed in their careers both now and in the future.”
