Insite Starter – A WordPress Theme

(.breakout)

This is a full width element which “breaks out” of a boxed parent container. Use it for slideshows, hero images and more.

The best sundaes start with the finest vanilla.

Insite Starter is a starter theme for WordPress. It’s a rock-solid foundation for creating a custom theme. Built with Bootstrap, Font Awesome and our custom tools, Insite Starter makes developing your website’s front-end quick and easy, while allowing complete customization of the look and feel of your site. Use it to build something beautiful today!

This is a “lead” paragraph. (p.lead) It is styled to stand out and make a strong point initially. The class can also be applied to other elements, so that a div.lead could be used to hold a “lead” that is two paragraphs long.

Insite Starter utilizes Bootstrap and Font Awesome, and is built upon the _s theme (underscores) by Autommatic. Enhancements have been borrowed from WP Bootstrap Starter (a WordPress starter theme by afterimagedesigns), _tk starter theme by ThemeKraft, the L’il B “bootstrap for Bootstrap”, and custom styling and js additions by Insite Website Design and Development. See the main stylesheet for full credits.

Find information on this page about the styling of elements within our theme. Read our About page to learn more about this theme.

Heading One (h1)

Headings usually precede a block of text, so here is a paragraph so that we can see the spatial relationship between heading and paragraph.

Heading Two (h2)

We don’t need or want 6 different heading sizes, so we are styling h2 and h3 the same, and h4 and h5 the same.

Heading Three (h3)

Headings usually precede a block of text, so here is a paragraph so that we can see the spatial relationship between heading and paragraph.

Heading Four (h4)

Headings usually precede a block of text, so here is a paragraph so that we can see the spatial relationship between heading and paragraph.

Heading Five (h5)

Headings usually precede a block of text, so here is a paragraph so that we can see the spatial relationship between heading and paragraph.

Heading six (h6)

Heading One (.hx)

Heading Two or Three (.hx)

Heading Four or Five (.hx)

Are you using a condensed font for your headings to minimize line breaks in your client’s long headings? Use class .hx to un-condense the font without requiring an additional font-face download.

This is a paragraph. This is an un-visited link – don’t click on it or it will become a visited link and you won’t be able to see what the unvisited state looks like. This is an un-visited link without an href attribute. This, on the other hand, is a (probably) visited link (this page). Click this to see an active link. Here’s the anchor text of a link that opens in a new tab/window. Here is a link to a PDF file that opens in a new tab/window. This is a second paragraph, right after the first paragraph, to show spacing between two of them. This is some bold text (using the strong tag) and some more bold words (using the b tag). These words are italicized (using the emphatic tag.) Italic and bold. An all uppercase sentence using our “text-uppercase” class. Blockquotes

Single line blockquote:

Stay hungry. Stay foolish.

Multi line blockquote with a footer.blockquote-footer and cite reference:

People think focus means saying yes to the thing you’ve got to focus on. But that’s not what it means at all. It means saying no to the hundred other good ideas that there are. You have to pick carefully. I’m actually as proud of the things we haven’t done as the things I have done. Innovation is saying no to 1,000 things.

Emphasize Tag

The emphasize tag should italicize text.

Insert Tag

This tag should denote inserted text.

Keyboard Tag

This scarsly known tag is meant to emulate keyboard text and indicate keys to press on a keyboard, and is often styled like the <code> tag, although bootstrap styles it differently. Used properly, each keystroke is wrapped in the <kbd> tag, with multiple keystrokes nested inside another <kbd> tag.

Hit the shift key. To inspect your code on a mac, hit CMD + ALT + i.

XMP Tag

We use the <xmp> tag to display code. To avoid WordPress br tags, wrap the tag thusly: <div><span><pre><xmp></xmp></pre></span></div>. We style that extra <pre> tag with a different appearance than our plain <pre> tag.

<, > and other special characters do not need to be escaped within the <xmp> tag! Originally used for preformatted text, it is deprecated but still universally supported.

xmp {
	white-space: pre;
	font-family: courier, 'courier new', monospace;
	font-size: 110%;
	color: navy;
	-moz-tab-size: 2;
	-o-tab-size: 2;
	tab-size: 2;
}
div > span > pre {
	background-color: transparent;
	border: 0px solid transparent;
	padding: 0;
}

<?php
	if ($something == $somethingelse) {
		//do something else
	}
?>

Preformatted Tag

This tag styles large blocks of code.

.post-title {
	margin: 0 0 5px;
	font-weight: bold;
	font-size: 38px;
	line-height: 1.2;
	and here's a line of some really, really, really, really long text, just to see how the PRE tag handles it and to find out how it overflows;
}

Quote Tag

Strike Tag (deprecated in HTML5)

The <strike> tag shows strike-through text.

S Tag (preferred in HTML5)

The <s> tag also displays as strike-through text. The <s> tag specifies text that is no longer correct, accurate or relevant.

Superscript Tag

Still sticking with science and Isaac Newton’s E = MC2, which should lift the 2 up.

Teletype Tag (deprecated in HTML5)

This rarely used tag emulates teletype text, which is usually styled like the <code> tag.

Variable Tag

This allows you to denote variables.

Etc.

.caret

We create a caret using a pseudo element with a CSS shape. It can be animated when its ancestor changes, using transform and transition.

This is text followed by <span class="caret"></span> which looks like this

It can also be appled to a parent element such as an <a class="caret"> or, for example, <p class="caret">blah blah</p> like this paragraph
