Warren Hersch, formerly ASBPE’s New York City chapter president, is the new president, and Tina Grady Barbaccia, formerly Chicago chapter president, is the new vice president.
Jyme Mariani returns for a second term as national treasurer.
Steve Roll moves to the position of immediate past president.
Warren S. Hersch, formerly ASBPE’s New York City chapter president and a two-time editorial award winner, joined National Underwriter Life & Health as a senior editor of advanced markets and sales in 2004.
In this capacity, he covers a range of advanced markets and practice management topics, including such areas as estate planning, executive benefits, charitable giving, advisor training and marketing techniques.
In addition, he is the lead writer for Annuity $ales Buzz, a monthly e-newsletter published by NU for life insurance professionals.
Previously, Warren served in various editorial capacities at Call Center Magazine, Teleconnect, Computer Reseller News and Wireless for the Corporate User. He has 17 years of experience in the publishing field, including a combined 13 years reporting on information technologies and financial services.
Warren has a B.A. in economics and history from the University of Colorado at Boulder.
Tina Grady Barbaccia is executive editor of Better Roads magazine and a regular contributor to her publication’s blog, Twitter site, and has been working on several other social media initiatives for her publication.
In her professional career, she has also worked on publications including the following: Aggregates Manager, Automotive Body Repair News (ABRN), Automotive Marketing, Appliance, Farm Chemicals and Farm Chemicals International (now CropLife), the Columbus Dispatch, the Record-Courier, The Gateway News, and the Aurora Advocate.
She has also contributed to The (Cleveland) Plain Dealer, Homestyles magazine, World Highways and other publications.
Barbaccia has bachelor’s degrees in journalism and mass communication and in theater studies from Kent State University and a master’s degree from Northwestern University’s Master of Science in Communication managerial program.
She is a board member of the Construction Writers Association.
Jyme Mariani, national treasurer, has been with the B2B press for 14 years. She helped start the Society’s Dallas/Fort Worth chapter in 2000, where she is an active board member.
Mariani is a champion of the smaller publishing houses and believes that they are the backbone of the business press.
She is a classically trained copy editor. Currently, Mariani is writing freelance articles for the B2B publishing community. Her specialty is editing scientific publications, primarily for the horticulture industry.
Mariani has a bachelor’s in communication, specializing in news writing, and a minor in English from the University of Texas.
Steve Roll, national president, is a senior editor for BNA Tax Management’s State Tax Library.
He previouly was president of ASBPE’s Washington, D.C. Chapter.
Roll co-edited Journalism That Matters, a book of case studies about B2B journalists whose stories triggered changes within government or industry.
One of the publications Roll edits, The Monthly State Tax Report, has twice won an Azbee award in the best news letter category. He also has been named as a finalist in BNA’s Editorial Excellence Award competition several times.
Roll earned a law degree from the University of Baltimore School of Law and a bachelor’s in English from State University of New York at Albany.
